Supporting Our Village Closet's Annual Back to School Event

One of the greatest joys of being part of Santa Rosa Women for Good is seeing our members come together through hands-on service in our community.

Last weekend, a wonderful group of our members spent their Saturday volunteering at Our Village Closet's Annual Back to School Event. Together with dozens of other volunteers, we helped hundreds of local children and youth impacted by foster care prepare for the upcoming school year.

Throughout the day, volunteers assisted children and caregivers as they selected backpacks, lunchboxes, new shoes, school supplies, and other essentials. But this event is about so much more than distributing school supplies.

At Our Village Closet, every family is welcomed with dignity and given the opportunity to choose the items that best fit their needs and personal style. That commitment to choice helps create an experience that feels empowering, joyful, and caring, something every child deserves as they head into a new school year.

Watching children light up as they found the perfect backpack or picked out a pair of shoes they were excited to wear on the first day of school was a powerful reminder that small moments can make a big difference. Starting the school year with confidence and the right supplies can have a lasting impact, and it was an honor to play a small role in making that possible.

We are incredibly grateful to the Santa Rosa Women for Good members who dedicated part of their weekend to serving our community. Your willingness to show up, lend a hand, and support local families is what makes Women for Good so special.
