FAQ

  • What is a giving circle?

A giving circle brings people together to make a bigger impact than they could on their own. At Santa Rosa Women for Good, we believe there are many ways to give back, and that when we come together, we can do more for our community.

We pool our donations into a collective grant fund, giving our members the power to decide which local nonprofits receive funding. We also come together to volunteer, lend a helping hand, and make a direct, hands-on difference for organizations doing important work throughout Sonoma County.

Together, we turn individual acts of generosity into a collective impact that helps our community thrive.

  • How much does it cost?

There’s no fee to be part of our community! The majority of our events are completely free and open to everyone, and there are lots of ways to get involved.

Impact Members are those who choose to contribute to our quarterly grant fund. We suggest a donation of $100 per quarter, but we believe everyone should give what feels right for them. Every penny donated to our grant fund goes directly to the nonprofits we award, helping us grow our collective impact right here in Sonoma County.

  • What is the time commitment?

Being a Woman for Good is designed to fit your life! There are no required meetings, mandatory volunteer hours, or minimum participation expectations. At its simplest, membership means being part of our community and helping us grow the good in whatever ways work for you.

Everything, from attending events and connecting with other members to volunteering and getting more involved, is completely optional.

Whether you join us for every opportunity or participate when life allows, there’s a place for you here. You can be as involved as you want, when you want!

  • Do I have to live in Santa Rosa?

Not at all! We welcome anyone who cares about making Sonoma County an amazing place to live. Our members live all across the county, and we even have a few supporters from farther away!

While most of our social events take place in Santa Rosa and the surrounding communities, we support nonprofits and volunteer with organizations throughout Sonoma County.

Wherever you call home, there’s a place for you here. Come connect, give back, and grow the good with us!

  • Do I have to be a member to attend events?

Not at all! Our social and volunteer events are open to anyone who wants to connect with our community, learn about local nonprofits, or see what we’re all about.

We love welcoming new faces, and members are always encouraged to bring friends, colleagues, and other women in their lives who might be curious about getting involved. Whether you’re ready to join or just want to check us out, you’re welcome here!

Come say hi, make some connections, and grow the good with us!

  • Who runs Santa Rosa Women for Good?

We’re a 100% volunteer-run giving circle, powered by our members! Our group is democratically run, meaning every Impact Member has an equal voice in our quarterly grant process, including the ability to nominate nonprofits and vote on which organizations receive funding.

We also have a volunteer leadership team that takes on additional responsibilities to help keep things running smoothly, from managing administrative tasks to creating opportunities for members to connect, learn, and give back.

  • How does the grant cycle work?

Every quarter, our members come together to help local nonprofits do more good in Sonoma County! Our grant process has three simple phases: Gather, where Impact Members nominate local nonprofits; Grant, where members learn about the nominees and vote on who receives funding; and Celebrate, where we honor our grant recipients and learn more about their impact.

It’s a community-driven process that puts the power of giving in our members’ hands. By pooling our contributions and deciding together where they go, we can make a bigger impact than we could alone!

Want the full breakdown? Visit our Member Information Page to learn more about our grant cycle.

  • Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes! Donations to both our grant fund and operating fund are tax-deductible.

Our grant fund is managed through our giving circle platform partner, Grapevine, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This is where Impact Members manage their grant fund contributions, participate in our quarterly grant process, and stay connected with our community. Every penny donated to our grant fund goes directly to the nonprofits we award.

Our operating fund supports the behind-the-scenes costs of keeping Santa Rosa Women for Good running. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Santa Rosa Women for Good also accepts tax-deductible donations to support our operations.

Thank you for helping us grow the good!
