Our Grant Program

Give Where You Live

At Santa Rosa Women for Good, we believe that small acts of generosity become something powerful when we come together.

Our Grow the Good Grant Program is how we turn individual contributions into meaningful community impact. Through collective giving, our members pool their donations and decide together which Sonoma County nonprofits will receive funding each quarter.

Since launching in 2022, our community has granted more than $80,000 to local organizations serving people, animals, and communities throughout Sonoma County.

As our membership continues to grow, so does our ability to support more nonprofits and create greater impact close to home.

Our Grow the Good Grant Model

  • $5,000 Impact Grant

The Grow the Good Impact Grant is awarded to the finalist organization receiving the highest number of member votes. This grant is designed to make a meaningful investment in a local nonprofit and reflects the collective power of our members' donations coming together to create lasting impact. By focusing significant funding on one organization each quarter, we help advance important programs, strengthen community services, and support the work of nonprofits making a difference close to home.

  • $1,000 Seed Grants

The Grow the Good Seed Grants are awarded to the second and third place finalist organizations. These grants allow us to support additional nonprofits each cycle and recognize more of the impactful work happening throughout Sonoma County. By extending funding to multiple organizations, we broaden the reach of our collective giving, help nonprofits advance their missions, and invest in a wider range of causes that strengthen our community. Organizations are always eligible to receive a Seed Grant.

How Our Grant Program Works

Members Nominate Nonprofits

Impact Members nominate Sonoma County nonprofits they are passionate about and would like to see receive funding.

Finalists Are Selected

Eligible nominations are reviewed and members vote to narrow the field to three final selections.

Members Vote

Impact Members hear directly from finalist organizations and cast their votes to determine grant recipients.

Grants Are Awarded

Grants are distributed to the organizations selected by our members.

Growing the Good

Our current grant structure reflects the incredible growth of our community.

As membership continues to grow, our vision is to increase the value of all three grants over time, allowing us to invest even more resources into the organizations making a difference throughout Sonoma County.

Every new Impact Member strengthens our grant fund and helps expand what is possible.

More members means more funding.
More funding means greater impact.
Greater impact means more good for our community.

FAQs

Who Can Be Nominated?

We welcome nominations for nonprofit organizations that:

  • Serve Sonoma County residents

  • Hold current 501(c)(3) nonprofit status

  • Align with our mission of strengthening and supporting our local community

  • Are able to use grant funds for charitable purposes

Organizations of all sizes and focus areas are encouraged to be nominated.

How to Nominate a Nonprofit

Nominations are submitted by Impact Members during each grant cycle.

If there is a nonprofit you believe deserves support, becoming an Impact Member gives you the opportunity to nominate organizations, participate in voting, and help direct funding to causes you care about.

Nonprofits are also encouraged to connect with us and share information about their work so members can learn more about their impact in the community.

Where does the grant funding come from?

Grant funding comes from donations made by our Impact Members. By pooling contributions together, members are able to create meaningful grants that would be difficult to achieve individually. At times we also receive matching funds from outside organizations that want to help amplify the contributions made by our members.

Can a nonprofit receive funding more than once?

Yes. Previous recipients are eligible for future funding based on current grant guidelines and timing requirements. Organizations are ineligible for an Impact Grant for 2 years following an Impact Grant award; however Seed Grants remain open and able to be granted to any organization (including Impact Grant winners) at all times.

How can a nonprofit learn more?

Organizations interested in being considered for future funding are encouraged to connect with our members and subscribe to our communications to stay informed about upcoming grant cycles and opportunities. Because all of our grant nominations come from our Impact Members, connecting with our community is the best way to get involved and share your mission.
