Helping Local Students Start The Year Strong

One of the things we love most about Santa Rosa Women for Good is seeing our community come together around a shared purpose. This month, that purpose was helping local children head back to school feeling prepared, confident, and supported.

Earlier this month, we launched a Back-to-School Supply Drive to benefit children served by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa. Throughout the month, our members generously donated backpacks, school supplies, lunch boxes, water bottles, and classroom essentials to help set local students up for success.

Our July Happy Hour became more than just an opportunity to connect and also turned into a packing party! Members arrived with arms full of supplies, rolled up their sleeves, and spent the evening filling backpacks while enjoying great conversation and plenty of laughter. It was a wonderful reminder that giving back is even more meaningful when we do it together.

Throughout the rest of the month, additional donations continued to come in from our generous community. Thanks to everyone's support, we were able to deliver more than 50 fully stocked backpacks to the team at Caritas Village, where they will be distributed during Catholic Charities' upcoming Back-to-School event. This year, the organization expects to serve more than 100 local children and youth at this event.

Catholic Charities has been serving Sonoma County for decades, providing compassionate support to individuals and families facing some of life's greatest challenges. Through programs focused on housing, food security, family support, immigration services, senior services, and emergency assistance, they help thousands of local residents each year build stability and move toward brighter futures. Their Back-to-School program is just one of the many ways they ensure children have the tools and encouragement they need to thrive.

We are incredibly grateful to every Santa Rosa Women for Good members and friends who donated supplies, packed backpacks, or helped spread the word. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on local children as they begin a new school year.

This project also a fun way for us to build a partnership with Catholic Charities. We enjoyed getting to know their incredible team and learning more about the important work happening every day at Caritas Village and in our community. We look forward to staying connected and finding new opportunities to work together in support of our community.
